Charlotte's Book Display

I have chosen to write about these Wildboy books because they were very inspirational stories about a boy named Brando Yelavich, whose life was going down the wrong path. Brando wanted to turn his life around so he walked the coastline of New Zealand from Cape Reinga to Bluff and all the way back up again to raise money for charity. 
I have now finished all my student librarian awards and earned my gold.

New Zealand Book Awards for Children & Young Adults 2018

We have a display in the library of some of this year's finalists.  An activity booklet is also included with some fun things to do relating to some of the titles.  A full list of finalists is available from this website and on the display shelf.

National Simultaneous Storytime 2018

This event was held in libraries across New Zealand and Australia on Wednesday 23 May.
Throughout the afternoon senior students - Maddy, Aleigha, Neve, Anya, Christine, Charlie and Brooke visited the Team Explorer classes and read the book 'Hickory, Dickory Dash' aloud to the children.  Based on the well-known nursery rhyme this book has lots of  onomatopaeia so required plenty of practise first to get it right.  They did a great job and the audiences seemed to enjoy the story and the way it was read to them.  Good work everyone.

Fire and Flood

Fire and flood was the first book in the series.It captured me and brought out my adventurous side.It is now one of my favourite reads.If you are into adventure and a little bit of romance this book is for you.Tella walks into her room one night to find an earpiece sitting on her bed waiting to be listened to.At first she thinks it's a prank and finds out that she could really save her brother.In the middle of night she runs out to complete the first mission.Will she ever receive the cure or will she always blame herself for her brother's illness?

Salt and Stone

This was the second book in the series even though there was more adventure this book didn't captivate me as much.I just feel like the first one was because it was them meeting each other and not knowing what was going on.In the second book it was really just about the competition.Tella is off to the last two lands of the competition the hardest yet - the river and the mountain.She finds out one of her teammates turns on her and is she falling in love with someone that doesn't love her back?Will Tella ever get the cure or will someone else get to it before her?

Why I like these books are because there is lots of tension and adventure.I guess stuff like that captivates kids at the age of 10 to 14.It’s one of those books that are so good you can't put the book down because on every page it's written to edge you in farther.

Katherine Rundell- Arwen

 I did a library display on Katherine Rundell and the books she has written. In doing so I will get my Gold Librarians Award. They are very good books to read and I do recommend them.
