WOW! a massive 26,723 books were issued to readers through the library in 2009. That's 2,300 more than last year. A very impressive record.
Keep reading through the summer holidays. If you read at least four books you will not lose any of those marvellous reading skills you have achieved this year. Read anything you like, just read.

Fantastic Book Sale
Wow, the books went quickly. By brain break more than 500 books had been sold to new owners. Thank you to everyone who bought books and special thanks to our wonderful librarians, Sophie, Meghan and Zakkiyya for helping to set it up and run it. Some happy buyers shown here. We hope to buy the 2010 Guinness Book of Records with the money...and we'd welcome ideas from you for other books. We'll have just over $100 to spend.
Update! 597 books sold giving us $118 to spend over the holidays. We'll let you know what we bought next year. Kia ora to all the buyers.

'Cookie' by Jacqueline Wilson
Cookie is such a great book but it is very sad! When her dad gets angry you feel like you are going to cry, but then you remember it's not real. You can imagine it happening in your head while you are reading, and if that happens I think it is a really good book. In the end Cookie and her mother live happily ever after! Just like a fairytale!
